“Walter Dorwin Teague: His Life, Work and Influence”

On Friday, June 1, “Walter Dorwin Teague:  His Life, Work and Influence” opened at the Madsonian Museum.  The event was a success with a great response from visitors who enjoyed talks from Allison Teague, exhibit curator and granddaughter of W.D. Teague and Jason Morris, Western Washington University professor of industrial design, and maker of the documentary, “Teague.”

The show will be up until August 31.  Check back for some of the great special events in store for this summer related to the exhibit!

Good design arrives at our mailbox…

We went to pick up the mail today and there was a surprise anonymous recognition of industrial design.

 

You can read about the history of the egg carton here.  This is a great example of a product that we take for granted.  This particular piece takes the egg carton to the next level, blending aesthetics with practical design to get eggs to the customer intact and in style.  Thanks to who ever sent us this great product.

Barns and Bridges Tour this Sunday, 8/28

As part of the Vermont Festival of the Arts “Barns and Bridges of the Valley,” we are offering a tour of the Madsonian’s 1891 carriage barn and the adjacent Great Eddy covered bridge, the oldest covered bridge in continuous use in Vermont!  This stop on the Valley wide tour is from 1-3 pm.  The Madsonian Museum is open from 12-4 on Sunday.

Stop by to learn about the interesting layers of history in this building and its neighboring bridge.  Don’t forget to check out the great collection of industrial design while you’re at it!
